Baseline Handgun

  • Baseline Handgun is the course for those looking to expand their skills and abilities beyond the core requirements of their Concealed Weapons Permit, explore competition shooting, and/or increase their personal standards and create a baseline of skills for defense or performance based shooting . This 8 hour course is intended to introduce firearm manipulations and marksmanship while exploring techniques that hone the students’ thought process while shooting. Students will be given all the tools needed to continue their path of craftsmanship with a firearm.

    This is NOT a beginner course. It is highly recommended that students have a CWP, passed some type of qualification course, or have attended one practical pistol match.

    • Safety and Handling

    • Gear Selection

    • The Draw(open or concealed)

    • Recoil Management

    • Trigger Control

    • Visual cues of various target distances and sizes

    • What is “fast shooting”

    • Dry Fire - and proper practice habits

    • Reloading

    • Process over Outcome

    • Introduction to Multiple Target Engagement

    • Full/Mid Size Duty or Competition Handguns (please no micro subcompacts) For example: The Glock 48 or Sig P365 (and variants) would be the smallest we would recommend in class

    • A minimum of 3 magazines

    • At least one(1) magazine pouch carried on the hip

    • Eye AND Ear Protection - I highly recommend electronic hearing protection

    • Competition, Concealment, or Duty Holster. (Holster must be able to stay open when firearm is drawn.) Instructor reserves the right to ask student to change holster position or type of holster at class.

    • NO Serpa Holsters allowed. The retention will be deactivated if you come to class with this holster.

    • 300rds recommended (you may bring more)

    • Lunch water, and snacks for the day.

    • Notebook and Pen/Pencil

    • Rain/Inclement Weather Gear - We will shoot rain or shine.

    • An open mind and readiness to learn

Accelerated

Handgun

  • Accelerated Handgun is the next step for the more experienced shooter looking to further enhance their skills and truly push the limits of what they are capable of with a firearm. This 8 hour course will build upon baseline handgun and seek to enhance the student’s speed, marksmanship, movement, and target transition skills.

    This is NOT a beginner’s course. It is highly recommended that the student have either taken baseline handgun or equivalent training. Students are expected to be able to hit an A-zone at 15yds within 3 seconds, safely draw and holster their firearm, and perform basic manipulations such as reloads to be able to attend this course.

    This course would also be recommended for:

    USPSA D to B class

    IDPA Novice to Expert

    • Target Transitions

    • Movement

    • How/Why of Different Sight Pictures

    • Stacking Shooting Variables

    • Dry Fire Practice

    • Understanding of Efficiency over pure Speed

    • Duty/Competition or Concealment Holster(holster must be able to remain open when firearm is drawn)

    • NO Serpa Holsters(instructor reserves the right to ask student to change holsters or holster position)

    • One(1) Magazine pouch to be won on the hip

    • 400rds of ammunition (you may bring more)

    • Range appropriate attire. Please no sandals, open toed shoes, open necked shirts, etc.

    • Pen/Pencil Note taking material

Introduction to Red

Dot Handgun

  • Intro to Red Dot Sight(RDS) Handgun is for the student that is new to using a RDS on their handgun. This 8-hour class will allow for a more detailed experience in using the RDS equipped handgun and refine skills needed to be as effective as possible.

    This is NOT a basic class. Students should be able to draw and holster safely and hit an A-Zone at 10yds with no time limit.

    • Grip

    • Finding the Dot on the Draw

    • Target Focus Shooting

    • Dot Tracking

    • Target Transitions

    • RDS at Distance

    • RDS Close Up

    • Slide Mounted RDS Equipped Handgun

    • Duty /Open Top or Concealment Holster

    • NO Serpas (holster positions may be required to be removed or changed as directed by instructor)

    • Eye and Ear Protection (I highly recommend electronic hearing protection)

    • Appropriate Range Attire (no sandals, open toed shoes, or open necked shirts)

    • 400rds of ammunition

    • Bug spray and sunscreen

    • Snacks, lunch and water for the day

    • Pen/Pencil and notetaking materials

    • Willingness to learn and work ethic

Baseline Carbine

  • Baseline Carbine is for the discerning shooter looking to further enhance their skills and truly push the limits of what they are capable of with a firearm. This 8 hour course will build a firm foundation of marksmanship and seek to enhance the student’s understanding of speed, position shooting and target transition skills.

    This is NOT a beginner’s course. It is highly recommended that the student have safe gun handling skills, hit an A-zone at 50yds prone with no time limit, manipulate their safety on demand, and have a firm, safe understanding of carbine handling.

    • Hold confirmation at Various Distances (50/100/150)

    • Rifle setup (slings, lights, etc.)

    • Rifle Marksmanship

    • Recoil Control

    • Reloading

    • Target Focus Shooting and Visual Skills

    • Intro to Barricade/Terrain Shooting

    • Visual Precision and Processing

    • Target Transitions

    • AR-15 semi-Automatic carbine

    • Ear and Eye Protection(I strongly recommend electronic hearing protection)

    • 300rds ammunition

    • No open toed shoes, sandals and closed necked shirts required

    • One(1) mag pouch to be worn on the hip

    • Some sort of sights(you’d be surprised) RDS, Irons, LVPO are all welcome

    • Secure sling on the rifle (2-point slings are strongly preferred)

    • Bug and sunscreen

    • Snacks, lunch and water for the day

    • Willingness to learn and a work ethic

Private Instruction

I offer private instruction on a one on one or group basis. Doing a private class allows us to tailor the curriculum to your specific needs/wants. I will work with you whether you are a brand new firearm owner or a more experienced shooter looking to break into competitive shooting.
